Did the patient show normal sweating earlier in life?

Does sweating occur at night?

• tuberculosis or other chronic granulomatous inflammation?

• menopause or bilateral oophorectomy?

• pheochromocytoma or a carcinoid tumor?

• thyrotoxicosis?

• diabetes mellitus?

• acromegaly?

• diencephalic epilepsy?

• basilar artery occlusion with pontine ischemia?

• renal cell carcinoma, malignant lymphoma, leukemia or other neoplasm?

• exposure to a chemical warfare agent (nerve gas, Sarin, Tabun)?

• exposure to an organophosphorus pesticide (malathion)?

• exposure to an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor (physostigmine, neostigmine, edrophonium)?

• nicotine poisoning?

• spinal cord injury?

• hypoglycemia?

• anxiety?

• a history of injury or surgery to sympathetic ganglia?

• a peripheral neuropathy?
